The wild wood creative writing
The bus stop stood before John. It was silent. The air smelt like wet grass. John took a peek out of the bus stop, only to realise it was raining. John ran to the bus stop to take shelter from the rain. Soon, it became dark. He sat on the seat which was already wet from the heavy downpour. Some cars passed by on the wet ground. It was as if the rain tried to stop John from going hom. John was worried, however, he calmed himself down, telling himself he could make it to the nearby MRT station before the MRT service ended.
It was pitch dark and pouring heavily. The young boy made his way across the pitch dark street. There was not a soul to be seen. Suddenly, he heard a noise coming from a nearby bush. He turned around, but there was nothing at all. John then heard some noises which sounded like footsteps. He turned his attention to it, but it was gone. Vanished. John quickly rushed to the nearest shelter, away from the noises. He told himself not to begin imagining things. As he walked he heard the haunting sound which devastated him. He was in a complete mess. He was afraid and alone. Then suddenly it seemed like every dark area had a pair of eyes looking at him. The noises also got louder, louder and louder. Street lamps, which was his only source of light, started to flicker. He started to sweat even though the air was cooler than usual. The area also seemed to get darker.
John was in a complete state of shock, he took off as fast as his legs could go. Away. Far, far away. Away from the evil sounds which lurked in the dark. John, not knowing where he was, just ran. He ended up in another MRT station not far away.
John did not know what to do. He was lost, alone, and he did not have anything.

A Time I Persevered And Was Successful
In the early years of robotics in my primary school, my dream was to win the regional First Lego League Singapore.
During the first few months of 2014, the school gave me an opportunity to fulfill my long awaited dream. I formed a Team with my friends. We called ourselves "Pencil Bots". We thought it was going to be a breeze as we thought we had a lot of time. However, the truth dawned upon us. We realised we only had three months or so to prepare for the competition. This sparked worries among our group as we thought we could not make it. We thought we did not have enough time.
For the first month or so, we knew time was of the essence. The word "failure" haunted us. We worked very hard to try to make sure our nightmare did not become reality. We persevered and did our best.
At the end of the first month, we found out that we were ahead of time. The nightmare was slowly vanishing and my dream of winning was starting to become a reality.
In the second month a new hurdle appeared. Exams. However, the exams only slowed us down, they did not stop us. We continued to persevere in hopes of being successful.
Seeing the fruit of our hard work from the first month, we continued to persevere. With the everlasting and strong support of our families, friends, and especially teachers, we managed to complete our preparation just in time for the competition.
Time flew by and soon it was time for the annual two-day competition
During the course of the two days during the competition, we did our best and persevered. Even though we made mistakes which lowered our morale, we still did our best.
Even though throughout the whole journey of the competition, the tides turned on us many times, we managed to bypass them.
So you may be wondering, what was our results? Well, the fruit of our labour was that we claimed the title of Champions for the regional competition and qualified for the First Lego Leauge Championships held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada two months later.

Homework on Suspense - Kwan Jun Jie
Suspense
The most recent book I have read which was enjoyable and suspenseful is titled "The Kill Order", which is a prequel to the movie/book titled "The Maze Runner."
The book is set 13 years before "The Maze Runner" and is about some people trying to escape from the solar flares which are hitting earth. The village where the main characters, Alec, Mark and Trina come from is attacked by the Post Flares Coalation, a group of people who are trying to kill everyone else on earth so they get all the resources on earth as earth was running out of resources. The shoot people with darts which contain highly contaigous diseases. Along the way they find a young girl, Deedee, who is immune to the virus. Halfway through the book, Alec and Mark loose Deedee who was accompained by Trina.
The suspense starts when Alec and Mark manage to find Deedee with Trina, who has already lost her memory due to the virus. After escaping from the virus-infected village they found Deedee with Trina, Alec and Mark find out that they have also been infected with the deadly virus. Before they go out of their mind, they try to get Deedee to the Flat Trans, the last place on earth which the sun flares have not scorched. In the end, they drop Deedee off at the Flat Trans before Alec, the pilot of the plane crashes all three of them into a building.

Different types of poetic devices and their examples
Rhyme:
They put me in the oven to bake.Me a deprived and miserable cake.Feeling the heat I started to bubble.Watching the others I knew I was in troubleThey opened the door and I started my life.Frosting me with a silver knife.Decorating me with candy jewels. The rest of my batch looked like fools.Lifting me up, she took off my wrapper.Feeling the breeze, I wanted to slap her.Opening her mouth with shiny teeth inside. This was the day this cupcake had died.Source: http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/the-life-of-a-cupcake#ixzz3P3m4sa7y Alliteration :
“When to the sessions of sweet silent thought / I summon up remembrance of
things past” (Shakespeare, “Sonnet 30”).
Onomatopoeia
Cynthia in the SnowIt SUSHES.It hushesThe loudness in the road.It flitter-twitters,And laughs away from me.It laughs a lovely whiteness,And whitely whirs away,To be,Some otherwhere,Still white as milk or shirts. So beautiful it hurts.Simile
“Friends are like chocolate cakeYou can never have too many.Chocolate cake is like heaven .Always amazing you with each taste or feelingChocolate cake is like life with so many different pieces.Chocolate cake is like happiness, you can never get enough of it.”- Unknown
Hyperbole
On a Snowy DayEveryone looks like snowmen. So much snow that it’s like walking up to heaven. The fireplace is aglow like a giant’s oven. Our cups of hot chocolate are piledTo the roof of the houseWith marshmallows. We scurry in the house, a bunch of hurried mice,On a snow day.-http://www.mywordwizard.com/poems-with-hyperbole.htmlPersonification
A cat named Joe
There's a cat named Joe and you wouldn't want to knowBut he thinks he'd like to be a HippopotamusAnd it sounds very strange, and he really wants to changeAnd in that way he's just like a lot of usOh, it wouldn't be so bad if he was certified as madBut he's not... he holds a normal conversationIt's just that within he's in a different kind of skinAnd it causes him a lot of botheration- http://examples.yourdictionary.com/humorous-examples-of-personification-in-poetry.html
Symbolism
To the Moon(The moon represents fatigue, loneliness, useless labor and unrequited love )Art thou pale for wearinessOf climbing heaven, and gazing on the earth,Wandering companionlessAmong the stars that have a different birth,—And ever-changing, like a joyless eyeThat finds no object worth its constancy?A ferry shows dying in A. E. Housman’s “XXIII”Crossing alone the nighted ferryWith the one coin for fee,Whom, on the wharf of Lethe waiting,Count you to find? Not me-Percy Bysshe ShelleyMetaphor
SONNET 18Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate:Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines,By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;But thy eternal summer shall not fadeNor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st; So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. Imagery
Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers

Free Verse
After the Sea-Ship by Walt Whitman After the Sea-Ship—after the whistling winds;After the white-gray sails, taut to their spars and ropes,Below, a myriad, myriad waves, hastening, lifting up their necks, Tending in ceaseless flow toward the track of the ship: Waves of the ocean, bubbling and gurgling, blithely prying,Waves, undulating waves—liquid, uneven, emulous waves,Toward that whirling current, laughing and buoyant, with curves, Where the great Vessel, sailing and tacking, displaced the surface;

True me poem
THE TRUE ME POEM
My real name is Jun Jie.
A name I wish to be called is JJ because it is short and easy to remember.
The animal that’s inside of me is a koala because i do not like sports or physical activities .
The object that’s inside my heart is my family because i like my family
The word on my forehead is my sister because it is my responsibility to take care of her.
The sound that I love is the sound of people talking happily in school because i don’t feel lonely.
The smell that I love is my grandmother’s cooking because i enjoy her cooking.
My favourite time of day is in the morning because it is the start of a new day.
My grandmother always says to me, “Rest Well.”
